Turkey's growing retail strength

Two Turkish shopping centres, for which Jones Lang LaSalle provided concept development, leasing and management advice, have secured first and second place at the 2009 International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Awards for Europe's largest new malls.

The title of Best New Centre in Europe, announced at the ICSC European Conference in Barcelona last night, went to the 90,000 sq m Istinye Park scheme in Istanbul.  In second place was the 85,000 sq m Panora project in Ankara.  Jones Lang LaSalle is also sole leasing agent for both centres.

Our retail strength and growing market share in Turkey are underlined by three further shopping centre management and leasing mandates, totalling 134,000 sq m, secured since the beginning of this year.  The largest of these is the 83,000 sq m Antares development in Ankara, which also includes a 19,000 sq m office tower.

Meanwhile, client expectations have been exceeded for the 55,000 sq m Sanko Park centre in Gazientepe which opened last week, attracting 160,000 shoppers in its first three days.  Again, Jones Lang LaSalle provided concept development, leasing and management advice and is retained as managing agent.
